From the dawn of civilization mankind
uses herbs to cure diseases. Collecting vast knowledge from their ancestors
about herbs and herbal remedies,
medieval doctors systematize and published
books containing herbal medical recipes.
One well known book was “De Materie
Medica” by Wiena Dioscurides, this remarkable manuscript consist description of
hundreds of balmy herbs and their uses at ill conditions.
Traditionally herbs were prepared by infusion or decoction in warm water as well as being
turned into tinctures, and most of the herbal remedies are primed in such
way as it can be seen at the presented example of an old herbal remedy below.
The tea for light wounds
21 grams crushed seed of
Opium Poppy with 14 grams of the White Mullein
flowers and 63 grams leaves of the Carpenter’s herb mix with 14 grams of
the root of the Arnica And 7 gr. of Greenweed root.
Pour into 250 ml. of hot water and drink all at once.
As
it can be seen at the example, traditionally herbs were prepared by infusion or
